When I was in high school, I dreamed of being a youth pastor or a missionary. I never imagined I’d get to be involved in both and for so many years! I trusted Jesus as my Savior when I was 11 years old in sixth grade, and ever since then, I’ve had a growing desire to help others know and follow Him.
After college, I became the Bible teacher at Grace Christian Academy, but after just six months, God called me to Waxhaw, North Carolina, where I served as the youth pastor at Waxhaw Bible Church for eight years. In August of 1998, my family and I moved to Jacksonville and began attending Christian Family Chapel. A little over a year later, on January 10, 2000, I joined the CFC staff as the church’s first Middle School Pastor. Then in January of 2021, I was asked to also step into the role of Mission Pastor.
I love middle schoolers—their energy, their questions, and their desire to have fun while figuring out life and faith. It’s a privilege to walk alongside them during such formative years and help them see how big and good God is. As Mission Pastor, I also get to support our missionaries around the world and help the church family stay connected to what God is doing in places near and far. One of my favorite things is challenging students to seriously consider giving their lives to the Great Commission, especially to unreached people groups.
My wife, Denise, and I live in the Mandarin area and are now empty nesters, except during summer breaks, when two of our four children return home from college. And in May of 2025, we entered a brand new and joyful season of life: becoming grandparents for the first time! What a joy.
Outside of ministry, I enjoy running a lawn care business, gardening, woodworking, and firing up the Big Green Egg whenever I can.
Serving at CFC has been one of the great joys of my life. I’m deeply grateful for this church and the opportunity to help students grow in their walk with Christ and develop a heart for the nations.
